4. Purpose for the processing of personal data

The purposes for the processing of personal data include: the management of customer relationships; the realization of the rights and obligations of the customer and the controller; the processing of personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Act with regards to online services; research activities; and, steering the advertising and/or direct marketing of the controller and/or its partners on the basis of personal data via the controller’s media channels and services without disclosing any personal data to an external party.

Aalto University Executive Education Ltd's register of marketing is used by the following auxiliary business names and previous subsidiaries:

The register may contain the following information:

6. Regular sources of information

The register will be compiled from sources publicly available on the Internet and other public sources, where appropriate. If the information is obtained from other than Internet sources, as a rule, the address sources will be specified.

7. Regular destinations of disclosed data and the transfer of data outside of the EU or the EEA

The controller will not disclose or transfer the personal data of customers to external parties, except when thus required by the Finnish authorities for the purpose of performing their statutory duties.

8. Removal of information

Information can be removed from the register based on a personal request or due to the termination of a customer relationship. Requests for change in register-related matters shall be submitted in writing to the postal address or by e-mail to the e-mail address indicated in section 1.

9. The principles of how the register is secured

Personal details are kept confidential. The information network and hardware, where the register is located used by the controller and its IT partners, if any, are protected by a firewall and other necessary technical measures. The register’s security measures comply with the data security policy of Aalto University.

Those using the register are the staff members of Aalto University Executive Education Ltd, who are committed to observe the rules laid down in the Act on the Openness of Government Activities (621/1999) and elsewhere in Finnish law.

The same processing procedures described above apply to both manual and electronic data sets.

Website visitor tracking

No personal information is collected on-site users other than that which is necessary for maintaining the customer relationship. Information on users who have applied or registered for programs; on users requesting further information on programs; on users who have ordered Aalto Leaders' Insight content, or education and training bulletins and newsletters; or who have downloaded brochures, is stored in Aalto EE's customer and marketing registers.

Statistical information based on Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity services is collected for the purposes of developing the website. Google Analytics cookies store information, on an anonymous basis, on issues such as how visitors came to a page (via a search engine or a direct link etc.), the pages visited, and how long users spent on each page. This information enables us to further develop our website and monitor the success of our new development activities. Website-use statistics are collected on issues such as the number of users, the user's country, the duration of the visit, the browser used, and the content visited.

For the development of the website, statistical information on its use is collected based on Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity services. Google Analytics cookies store information in anonymous form, for example, how users came to the page (search engine, direct link, etc.), which pages were visited, and how long users were on each page. The number of users, country of use, time of use, and the browser used as well as the contents visited by the visitor are recorded. With the help of Microsoft Clarity, we also analyze user visits to our site as recorded sessions, in which the data forms that the visitor may have filled out are covered, with the aim of improving the site's usability. This information enables us to further develop our website and monitor the success of new development efforts.

Marketing automation

Aalto EE websites run a marketing automation system that is used to

  • improving the general user experience of Aalto EE’s web services, e.g. highlighting services that are of the highest importance to the visitor;
  • fine-tuning our program finder functionalities;
  • creating target segments for direct marketing campaigns, where profiling helps Aalto EE suggest services that meet customer needs.

The user's personal information may be linked to the cookie when she reveals her person by filling in a webform, e.g. application/registration, request for information, or newsletter subscription. The information given is stored in Aalto EE’s marketing or customer register.

The user's personal information may be linked to the cookie when the user arrives at the website via an email marketing message sent by Aalto EE. The sources for e-mail marketing messages are Aalto EE’s marketing or customer register. A user whose cookie is linked to personal data can receive email marketing that is personalized based on her website visitor history.

Email marketing

Links to the website contained in newsletters and training bulletins e-mailed by Aalto EE are equipped with either personalized or campaign-specific tracking codes, which are used to assess the effectiveness and targeting of campaigns. All newsletters and e-mail marketing communications include a link for setting an e-mail marketing ban.

Display advertising

On the websites, Aalto EE has adopted Google Analytics display advertising and remarketing. When you visit our website, it may leave a cookie in your browser, which enables the display of targeted Aalto EE advertising when you visit other websites that are cooperating with Google. You can control how this advertising is displayed and completely opt out of Google Analytics display advertising by using Ads Preferences Manager at http://google.com/ads/preferences.

Third-party providers such as Google display Aalto EE's ads on the Google search engine and on the websites of Google partners engaged in display advertising with the help of Google. Marketing based on user lists, which makes use of the systems of third-party service providers (e.g. Google), may be targeted at users of the websites. Marketing based on user lists draws on lists created from the cookies used on this website.
