The path to great leadership starts from within. To succeed, leaders must gain a better understanding of their own approach to leadership and acquire new ideas in order to optimize and sustain their potential. Leading change and managing transition

Exceptional leadership requires an understanding of the difference between change and transition, and what it takes to maintain a balance between these from a leadership perspective. Successful leaders must recognize their individual and behavioral leadership styles and preferences regarding change, and how these preferences influence their response to change. They must know how to lead more effectively and coach both themselves and others through the change process. They also need concrete tools for leading organizational change in the workplace.

Strategy is a unique topic in management, as it cuts across all specializations from finance and marketing to leadership and innovation. Strategic management deals with three interrelated elements: leadership and people, competition and the business environment, and organization and capabilities. Strategic management requires the analysis of each of these domain areas, the formulation of a strategy applicable to the situation in all three domains, and coherent implementation efforts that connect to and shape all three areas.

Digitalization and globalization as overarching megatrends

Digitalization continues to be an overarching megatrend driving strategic change in several industries. It is shaping competition and setting new skill requirements for individuals, leadership and management practice. It also has an impact on the design of organizations.

Another factor driving strategic change is the on-going globalization of business. Organizational decision-makers need an international mindset to negotiate in the turbulent global environments they face. Internationalization is creating a need for agile responses to technological developments and new business models, the striking of a balance between local adaptation and global standardization, and the grasping of the new opportunities brought by a broader range of customers and innovative new ideas in the global marketplace.
