Financial Times: Aalto Executive MBA's overall satisfaction highest in the Nordic countries

Financial Times has once again ranked the Aalto Executive MBA program in the world’s top one hundred from among thousands of peers. FT published the figures for overall satisfaction for the programs for the first time this year. Aalto EMBA program participants’ overall satisfaction is the highest in the Nordics, and globally the program is in the 14th place. Overall, the program was ranked 88th, which is four places higher than last year.

"I am glad that our alumni are so satisfied with their choice. Ultimately, the value of the Executive MBA program and the return on the significant time investment is measured with the participants’ perceived personal growth and the benefits they gain in terms of their careers,” says Dr. Pekka Mattila, Group Managing Director for Aalto EE and Professor of Practice in Aalto University School of Business.

Supporting personal growth has been the strength of the Aalto Executive MBA program for years. It promotes organizational transformation and through that, also has a broader impact on society. Strategic thinking is increasingly required for keeping the balance both in the short-term and the long-term in this quickly and sometimes even dramatically changing business environment.

“I got exactly what I was looking for: a comprehensive understanding of business, theoretical frameworks and numerous new tools. Above all, the Aalto EMBA made me a more critical and strategic thinker,” says alumna Sonja London, Director of Licensing, Nokia.

Alumni salary increase improved markedly

The ranking consists of 15 criteria with annually changing weightings. In addition to the criterion of achieving aims, the salary increase of Aalto EMBA alumni after graduation has improved in relation to their peers. The increase is especially significant considering that compared to their peers internationally, Aalto MBA alumni are already rather experienced and in high positions in their organizations at the start of their studies. This year, the number of female faculty members decreased slightly.

As usual, the joint programs of Anglo-American and Chinese universities continue to dominate the top places in the ranking. The joint program of the Kellogg University (USA) and the Hong Kong UST Business School took the first place, with the Chinese-European CEIBS in second place and HEC Paris in the third. The following spots went to the joint program of HEC Paris, London School of Economics and Stern School of Business and the joint program of Tsinghua University and Insead.

The FT Ranking is based on information provided directly to Financial Times by program participants, and statistical data provided by universities. The survey respondents are always alumni who graduated from their Executive MBA program three years ago.

QS Ranking: Aalto EMBA ranked the best program in Finland

The QS World University Ranking is a prestigious global ranking alongside the FT Ranking. In the 2020 QA Ranking, the Aalto EMBA program was ranked the best in Finland and placed 62nd in the global ranking. Aalto University also performs well in broader university-specific comparisons. The University was ranked 9th in the world by QS and 20th by the Times Higher Education in their rankings of universities under 50 years old.
