Finnish Climecon Oy is a forerunner in indoor climate control. The company is known for its smart indoor climate solutions, such as its IoT-based MyAir ventilation solution for apartment buildings, which adjusts, optimizes and balances ventilation automatically between apartments. The over 50-strong company supplies indoor climate solutions for residential, business and public premises. Climecon’s solutions can also be found in the world’s largest cruise ships, and its range of ventilation solutions for commercial kitchens has growing exports to Europe.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming a part of all Climecon’s business areas. CEO Tommi Uksila recently participated in Aalto EE’s program Driving Business Growth with AI (Tekoäly liiketoiminnan ajurina).
“We have always had brave product development and applied the newest technology. Consequently, I was immediately intrigued when I heard of this program. AI is a great fit for our outlook and strategy,” says Uksila.
Two Climecon Management Team members joined Uksila in the training: CTO Anssi Airas and Design Manager Esa Huuskonen.
''The training gave us all great ideas about potential benefits AI could bring Climecon. We were tremendously enthusiastic, bouncing ideas off each other.''
“Participating together was highly beneficial. The training gave us all great ideas about potential benefits AI could bring Climecon. We were tremendously enthusiastic, bouncing ideas off each other – and during every break and after each day we had avid discussions about all the areas in which we could utilize AI in the future,” Uksila describes the experience.
Upon finishing the program, all three were certain that Climecon should make the most of AI-related opportunities.
“Now, our biggest decisions have to do with what order shall we start taking all these great ideas and putting them to practice,” Uksila remarks.
Uksila describes Aalto EE’s training as an extensive and well-structured look into how AI can benefit business.
“The program was highly interesting. We had great lecturers, and we got a very realistic and up-to-date picture of what artificial intelligence is today and how it can impact business,” Uksila says.
“There was just the right amount of theory for a two-day program. I especially liked the practical cases, which allowed us to reflect on issues form various standpoints and consider for example ethical questions. We also had very active conversations and great dialogue. It was interesting to hear what kind of AI-solutions other participants were considering or already had in use,” Uksila underlines.
After the training, Climecon immediately started incorporating AI into its product development. Climecon’s first AI-based solutions are already being tested.
“The coaching concretely opened our eyes to see just how many ways we could benefit from AI in our operations. There are numerous parameters in indoor climate solutions and managing such masses of data is challenging. AI would improve data management and enable us to provide customers with answers much faster,” Uksila ponders.
“At Climecon, AI is now clearly on the Management Team’s agenda and part of our everyday work. We see remarkable potential not only in product development, but also in strategy development and in creating future scenarios, where AI may well prove to be of considerable help,” says Uksila.
Uksila affirms that he is pleased to recommend Aalto EE’s Driving Business Growth with AI program.
“It would be unwise to disregard the potential of AI. If you wish to maintain or create competitive advantage, you need to take AI into consideration.''

“Coaching is always an investment for a company. I felt this program provided a good return on the time and money we spent. We left the training in very high spirits, enthusiastic to learn even more. I recommend participating to anyone interested in AI, regardless of their field of business. I think the program is a particularly good fit for top management and Management Team members, as they really ought to know what kind of business opportunities AI can bring,” Uksila emphasizes.
