Advanced Management Program

Grasp Global Growth through Nordic Excellence

Aalto University Executive Education and the University of Gothenburg have together developed an extremely intensive, high-quality learning experience and networking opportunity for senior executives. The program has been designed to fit into the calendars of busy top executives, while providing a truly global experience – from a unique regional perspective. Participants interact with faculty and peers from several countries in two geographically and culturally diverse locations. The curriculum includes unique and engaging C-suite discussions.

The program will cover three dimensions:

Participants will meet for two separate modules on two continents in inspiring locations. The class size is limited and enrollment is by application only.

Senior executives (C-suite and C-1) who seek a very intensive and unique learning experience and who wish to achieve personal and professional transformation and refine their professional legacy; top executives who want to prepare themselves and their organizations to tackle the challenges of a disruptive world and ensure they can keep their companies ahead of global shifts.

Contents and Schedule

Participants will meet for two separate modules on two continents in inspiring locations: first, in Singapore – a dynamic business hub in Asia; second, in the midst of the stunning beauty of the Nordic Archipelago near Stockholm, Sweden. The program also includes a virtual kick-off.

The faculty for the Advanced Management Program are globally recognized experts in their fields. With extensive experience in executive education, research and working with international companies, they are up to date on the latest global trends.

Dr. Pekka Mattila

Dr. Pekka Mattila is the Group Managing Director and Associate Dean of Aalto EE, and serves as a Professor of Practice at the Aalto University School of Business.

Dr. Mattila is a specialist in strategic management and agility, strategy co-creation, business model innovation, executive leadership, top team dynamics, change management, organizational culture and strategic marketing. He works frequently with both European and Asian executive audiences, and is a much-requested speaker at corporate and other events around the world. Over the years, he has frequently visited a number of prestigious European and Asian universities teaching management, organizational behaviour, marketing and sociology.

Esko Aho

Esko Aho is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of East Office of Finnish Industries Ltd.

The central themes of Mr. Aho’s teaching include, for example, public regulation of business activities, collaboration between business and society in a digital economy, corporate social responsibility and ways in which companies can promote sustainable development.

Mr. Aho served as Prime Minister of Finland from 1991 to 1995 and as Member of Parliament from 1983 to 2003. Since then his tasks have included the post of Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations and Responsibility at Nokia and membership on the Nokia board, serving as President of the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and Senior Fellow at the Kennedy School of Harvard University.

David Purdy

David Purdy is Clinical Assistant Professor of Management Communication at New York University Stern School of Business.

Professor Purdy draws on more than 25 years of experience and education in business and the arts to help students, executives and entrepreneurs think and influence more effectively both in person and online. His research in Aesthetic Intelligence draws on the arts and humanities – and insights from neuroscience – to help others connect, communicate, and collaborate effectively.

Dr. Olaf Groth

Olaf Groth is Global Professor of Management, Strategy, Innovation & Economics at Hult International Business School.

Prof. Groth is a global management, innovation and strategy professor, adviser and executive with 20 years of experience in corporations, advisory firms and academia. He advises senior executives internationally on global innovation trends, strategy, ecosystems and commercial diplomacy, primarily in the digital, energy, transportation and infrastructure domains. He has experience in executive and advisory roles with Q.Cells North America, Monitor Group, Qualcomm, Boeing, Vodafone, AirTouch and a transportation data start-up.

Dominic Houlder

Dominic Houlder serves as Adjunct Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School.

Dominic Houlder is one of Europe’s leading experts on strategy execution in B2B and professional services firms. He helps the leaders of major firms to connect with their clients, their colleagues and themselves in different and compelling ways.

He brings a mix of theory, practical experience and spiritual insight to his work. Before joining London Business School in 1994, he worked for the Boston Consulting Group and held senior leadership positions in the corporate world. His major clients include Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Deloitte, SAP and Saatchi & Saatchi.

Dr. Ramnath Narayanswamy

Ramnath Narayanswamy is Professor in the Economics and Social Sciences Area at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB).

His areas of interest include business and society, economic reforms in transition economies, self-development and leadership development, outsourcing and creativity and innovation. Fluent in several languages, and a frequent contributor to professional journals in India and abroad, his latest book on ”Growing Leaders” (co-authored) is to be released in 2017. He is also completing a volume on ”Management Insights from Indian Spirituality: Investigations from the Epics for Managers”. Ram has won several teaching awards from successive groups of students in both creativity and innovation.

Dr. Anil Gupta

Anil K. Gupta is the Michael D. Dingman Chair in Strategy, Globalization and Entrepreneurship and Distinguished Scholar-Teacher at the Smith School of Business, The University of Maryland at College Park.

Anil also serves as chairman, The China India Institute, a Washington DC-based research and consulting organization.

Dr. Anil K. Gupta is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on strategy, globalization and emerging markets. He has written number of books including The Silk Road Rediscovered: How Indian and Chinese Companies are Becoming Globally Stronger by Competing in Each Other’s Markets (2014) and Getting China and India Right (2009) as well as over 70 papers in leading academic journals.

Program Fee and Application

Program Fee

 The fee for the Advanced Management Program is € 21,000 (+ VAT).

For Aalto EE and GU School of Executive Education Alumni we offer a special fee on the program. Please contact our program staff for more information.

The program fee includes in-class materials, lunches and coffee breaks, most of the dinners, and accommodation during the program days. Please note that the program fee does not include travel expenses.

VAT is applicable to private persons and Finnish companies.
