Contents and Schedule

The program incorporates a blended format of face-to-face and online sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to attend face-to-face facilitated sessions and workshops, as well as several online courses, keynotes, and company cases. A digital learning environment will be used to support the learning experience.

During the program, you will develop a Digital Resiliency Plan that balances your core business operations with new opportunities for competitive advantage. Based on your preference and current need, you can focus either on technology portfolio management or digital strategy development in your plan.

Instructors

Henri Schildt

Henri Schildt is a tenured professor with a joint appointment at the Aalto University School of Business (Management & Organizations) and the School of Science’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

His research interests span technology strategy, organizational change, and strategy process (with specific interest in reasoning under uncertainty and the use of data analytics). He is currently heading two research programmes on data-driven management and the management of digitalization in Finnish manufacturing companies. Henri Schildt completed his PhD at Helsinki University of Technology in 2007.

Risto Sarvas

Risto Sarvas is Professor of Practice and Head of the Information Networks program at Aalto University. Risto has a colourful history overlapping design, business, technology, and society.

The common denominator between these three roles is his endless enthusiasm to figure out how technology and society are intertwined: as a culture, in politics, in business, as well as in everyday life.

His research, teaching, and service design work have received several awards and much popularity.

Risto Sarvas holds a doctorate from Helsinki University of Technology in Media Technology.

Riitta Lumme-Tuomala

Riitta Lumme-Tuomala’s key qualifications are in the areas of leadership, especially from the point of view of different generations at the same workplace, young potential development, talent management, and individual diversity (MBTI Step I and Step II Certification) and self-leadership.

Dr. Lumme-Tuomala is an experienced and frequent lecturer on the mentioned topics.

Lumme-Tuomala holds a Master of Sciences degree in Economics with a major in International Marketing from the Helsinki School of Economics and EMBA degree from HSE Executive Education. She defended her DBA dissertation on Talent Management in June 2017.

Kimmo Karhu

Kimmo Karhu is an Assistant Professor, at Aalto University Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Karhu is an expert on platform business models and a seasoned teacher on digital strategy. By combining hands-on industry experience with academic thinking, he seeks to explain how AI, machine learning, and other technologies can be leveraged for scaling platform business. Karhu's recent doctoral thesis analyses open platform strategizing and digital tactics in mobile ecosystems.

Kari Hiekkanen

Kari Hiekkanen is a Research Fellow at Department of Computer Science at Aalto University. He has extensive experience in various IT management and leadership roles in R&D and management consulting.

Hiekkanen has over 20 years of experience in combining IT and strategy in various industries. He has a solid knowledge of IT management practices, enterprise architecture, and IT governance both, as a practitioner and, as an educator. His research interests include the industrial Internet and digitalization of Industries. Hiekkanen is an expert on machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.

Timo Seppälä

Timo Seppälä works as Professor of Practice, Digital Operations at the Aalto University and as Research Associate at The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, ETLA.

His research interest lie in contemporary global phenomena like digitalization, platform economy and global value chains as well as strategic management and internationalization of firms.

Seppälä's areas of expertise include Business Intelligence and Analyses, Global Business Unit and Account Management, Strategic and Operative Business Development, Supplier and Customer Relationship Management, and Contract Negotiations.

Dr. Seppälä has over 15 years of business experience in several Finnish and international companies for example Metso, OMG Kokkola Chemicals, Oracle, Elcoteq, and SAP.
