Contents and Schedule
The program incorporates a blended format of face-to-face and online sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to attend face-to-face facilitated sessions and workshops, as well as several online courses, keynotes, and company cases. A digital learning environment will be used to support the learning experience.
During the program, you will develop a Digital Resiliency Plan that balances your core business operations with new opportunities for competitive advantage. Based on your preference and current need, you can focus either on technology portfolio management or digital strategy development in your plan.

Henri Schildt is a tenured professor with a joint appointment at the Aalto University School of Business (Management & Organizations) and the School of Science’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.
His research interests span technology strategy, organizational change, and strategy process (with specific interest in reasoning under uncertainty and the use of data analytics). He is currently heading two research programmes on data-driven management and the management of digitalization in Finnish manufacturing companies. Henri Schildt completed his PhD at Helsinki University of Technology in 2007.
Risto Sarvas is Professor of Practice and Head of the Information Networks program at Aalto University. Risto has a colourful history overlapping design, business, technology, and society.
The common denominator between these three roles is his endless enthusiasm to figure out how technology and society are intertwined: as a culture, in politics, in business, as well as in everyday life.
His research, teaching, and service design work have received several awards and much popularity.
Risto Sarvas holds a doctorate from Helsinki University of Technology in Media Technology.
Riitta Lumme-Tuomala has extensive expertise in leadership, especially from the point-of-view of potential development, talent management, individual diversity (MBTI Step I and Step II Certification, WorkPlace Big Five Profile Certification) and self- leadership. She is an expert and frequent lecturer on these topics.
Lumme-Tuomala defended her DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) dissertation on Talent Management in June 2017.
At Aalto University Executive Education, she is responsible for strategic marketing, communications, and alumni relations. Additionally, her responsibilities include the development of Talent Management and High Potential concepts and programs.
Her working experience includes Pfizer (HRD Manager 2001 – 2005), Mercuri Urval (2000 – 2001), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Regional Finance Officer, Africa 1995 – 1999).
Riitta Lumme-Tuomala holds a M.Sc. in Economics with a major in International Marketing from the Helsinki School of Economics, and an EMBA from HSE Executive Education.
Kimmo Karhu is an Assistant Professor, at Aalto University Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.
Karhu is an expert on platform business models and a seasoned teacher on digital strategy. By combining hands-on industry experience with academic thinking, he seeks to explain how AI, machine learning, and other technologies can be leveraged for scaling platform business. Karhu's recent doctoral thesis analyses open platform strategizing and digital tactics in mobile ecosystems.
Kari Hiekkanen is a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University. He has extensive experience in various IT management and leadership roles in R&D and management consulting.
Hiekkanen has over 20 years of experience combining IT and strategy in various industries. He has a solid knowledge of IT management practices, enterprise architecture, and IT governance both as a practitioner and educator. Hiekkanen's research interests include the industrial Internet and the digitalization of Industries. He is an expert on machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.
Timo Seppälä works as Professor of Practice, Digital Operations at the Aalto University and as Research Associate at The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, ETLA.
His research interest lie in contemporary global phenomena like digitalization, platform economy and global value chains as well as strategic management and internationalization of firms.
Seppälä's areas of expertise include Business Intelligence and Analyses, Global Business Unit and Account Management, Strategic and Operative Business Development, Supplier and Customer Relationship Management, and Contract Negotiations.
Dr. Seppälä has over 15 years of business experience in several Finnish and international companies for example Metso, OMG Kokkola Chemicals, Oracle, Elcoteq, and SAP.

This is a three-day elective module of the Graduate Diploma in Digital Strategy and Leadership program, which can also be taken as a stand-alone program.
